- If he stays at a distance from the city center, you may ask further, "How do you commute?" Empathize by saying "must be taking you a long time to reach (college/work)".
- If you have met the person at a party, ask, "How do you know (name of the host)?
- If you have met him at a bar, you may ask, "Do you come to this place often?"...add further.."I like the ambiance/music of this place"
- Give an opinion or two about the food being served, "I like (name of the dish or drink) served here". Then proceed to ask, "What's your favorite cuisine?"
